Job Description (JD)

• Create accurate subtitles and captions with correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
• Translate dialogue into the required language accurately while preserving the original meaning, tone, and cultural context.
• Ensure subtitles and captions are appropriately positioned and formatted for clear on-screen viewing.
• Synchronize subtitles accurately with dialogue, audio, and visual content.
• Review and proofread subtitle content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.
• Complete subtitling and translation assignments accurately within tight deadlines.
• Ensure subtitles are clear and accessible for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences where applicable.
• Use subtitling and translation software effectively to create, edit, synchronize, and finalize subtitle files.
• Conduct necessary research to ensure accurate translation of terminology, expressions, and industry-specific content.
• Maintain familiarity with various types of media content, including TV series, movies, variety shows, news programs, and other entertainment content.
• Manage multiple translation and subtitling assignments while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.

Job Specification (JS)

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Language Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in translation, interpretation, subtitling, or a related field.
• Fluency in at least two languages, including English.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and language usage.
• Strong research skills, particularly for technical, cultural, and industry-specific terminology.
• Proficiency in subtitling, translation, and related software/tools.
• Good understanding of subtitle timing, synchronization, formatting, and screen presentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with the media and entertainment industry, particularly TV series, movies, variety shows, and news content.
